Researchers analyzed data from 49 trials that involved adults who were close to developing high blood pressure.

The participants in these studies were generally overweight and middle-aged, and at risk of developing high blood pressure. The studies used small groups of adults who were assigned to either a yoga or a control group.

A prospective, three-arm study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of yoga. The researchers evaluated two types of yoga, a home-based program and a yoga class. The study used a matched-controlled open clinical trial design and involved a baseline and twelve-week intervention.

The studies were conducted in several countries, including India, the USA, Brazil, and Thailand. In all, there were 1013 participants enrolled in the studies.

Of these, 473 participants were assigned to a yoga program and 540 to a control group. Ninety-three percent of participants completed the study. In contrast, the comparison group had a dropout rate of four percent.
