Hero Pose (Virasana) is a powerful yoga asana that helps soothe stiff muscles while strengthening your core and back. This seated pose provides an intense thigh, ankle, and knee stretch sure to take your yogic practice to the next level!

How to do the Hero Pose:

  1. Get ready to relax and achieve true comfort by getting into a comfortable position on the ground – with shins firmly planted on the floor and knees together.
  2. Sit back on your heels, bringing your buttocks to rest on your heels.
  3. Place your hands on your thighs, with your palms facing down.
  4. Sit up tall, with your spine straight and your shoulders relaxed.
  5. Stay in the pose for a up to 30 sec, embracing its strength and power. Then slowly come out of it to bring balance back into your body.

Start your seated Hero Pose journey with a straight spine and strong core. If you need extra help, consider adding support from props like yoga blocks or rolled-up blankets placed at the base of your heels to cushion them if discomfort arises in any part of your lower body.

As you get more comfortable, try stretching yourself farther by placing hands on either knees or lap for added stability – even extending arms overhead will let the pose bring out its full potential!

It can also help relieve pressure on the front of your thighs. You can eventually perform the pose without a bolster.

Kneeling Hero Pose is a great way to get the benefits of meditation in comfort. Place a block and/or bolster behind your back, resting on top of folded blanket underneath your thigh for extra support as you rest both palms upon it.

You should try this pose if seated version proves too challenging – just be sure that with each breath, flexing deeper into the posture can help open those joints up even more!
